AirAsia X to Launch Direct Flights Between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi

AirAsia X has announced the launch of direct flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Jinnah International Airport (KHI) in Karachi, Pakistan, starting on May 30, 2025. The four-times-weekly service will operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, offering a new, affordable travel option for both Malaysian and Pakistani communities.
AirAsia X will be the only low-cost carrier offering a nonstop connection between the two cities, enhancing connectivity and providing a more budget-friendly choice for travelers. This new route caters to the large Pakistani diaspora in Malaysia, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimating over 200,000 Pakistanis living in the country as of November 2024. The Pakistani community in Malaysia is the largest diaspora from Pakistan in Southeast Asia and the sixth-largest group of foreign workers in the country.
Karachi, with a population of 20 million, is the largest and one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Pakistan. Known for its rich history and vibrant modern economy, Karachi is a popular destination for both tourism and business. Key attractions include the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and the historic Empress Market, dating back to the 1800s.
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, expressed excitement about the new route, stating, “As we build on our strong growth momentum in 2024, we are thrilled to launch AAX’s next adventure in Karachi, further strengthening our presence in the South Asian market. Karachi is a dynamic city with a rich history and a thriving modern economy, and we are proud to be the sole low-cost carrier connecting this vibrant metropolis to our extensive network beyond Malaysia.”
The new service will operate with the following schedule:
Flight D7108 departs Kuala Lumpur at 18:25 local time, arriving in Karachi at 21:30 local time.
Flight D7109 departs Karachi at 22:45 local time, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 08:05 local time the following day.
This route is expected to further solidify AirAsia X’s presence in the South Asian market, offering convenient and affordable options for travelers between Malaysia and Pakistan.
