Latvian airline airBaltic has announced the addition of new direct routes to Nice and Milan from its base in Tampere. The new routes will launch in May, operating twice weekly on the airline’s Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

The hybrid low-fare carrier already operates direct flights from Tampere to Copenhagen, Munich and Amsterdam as well as Malaga, Rhodes and continuing flights to Riga. In January, the airline carried 67% more passengers than the same month in 2022, with 22% more flights also performed than in January last year.

Speaking about the airline’s decision to expand its route network, Martin Gauss, President and CEO, airBaltic, said: “In a few months we will be celebrating the first anniversary of our base in Tampere, and so far the demand from Finnish passengers has met our expectations. Following the success, we at airBaltic are thrilled to add these two beautiful cities to our route network, as both Nice and Milan are very popular travel choices.”

“We hope that this year the passenger demand will gradually grow even more, therefore we may launch additional new destinations to various business hubs and leisure destinations over time,” he added.
