AirBaltic Opens New Route to Rzeszów, Connecting Ukrainians
AirBaltic is launching a new route from Riga, Latvia, to Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (RZE) in Poland, designed to provide Ukrainians with more travel options as direct flights from Ukraine remain suspended since the Russian invasion in February 2022. Starting November 8, the flights will operate on an Airbus A220-300, although frequency details have not been disclosed.
Rzeszów, approximately 440 miles from the Ukrainian border, is well-connected by bus and train routes from key Ukrainian cities like Kyiv and Lviv. This proximity makes RZE an accessible hub for Ukrainians seeking international travel options. AirBaltic noted that Ukrainians can travel to Rzeszów by bus directly from cities such as Kyiv and Lviv. For those arriving by train, connections to Rzeszów are available from Przemyśl, a Polish city near the border, with an additional bus link to the airport.
Once in Rzeszów, travelers can access airBaltic’s European network, which spans over 130 destinations. This new route offers Ukrainian passengers an efficient transit point to reach destinations across Europe, contributing to regional connectivity amid ongoing travel challenges for Ukraine.
With this initiative, AirBaltic aims to support Ukrainian travelers by offering a reliable route that connects them to a broader network via Riga. The airline’s statement emphasizes its commitment to meeting the needs of Ukrainian passengers through convenient connections and accessible transportation options.
