Airbus Reports Zero Orders, 51 Deliveries in May 2025

Airbus reported zero new commercial aircraft orders in May 2025, raising industry speculation that the European manufacturer is holding back announcements ahead of the International Paris Air Show later this month. While the reason for the pause in orders hasn’t been confirmed, it stands out as unusual for one of the world’s largest aircraft makers.

Despite the lack of new deals, Airbus delivered 51 aircraft to 32 customers in May, slightly down from 53 deliveries to 43 customers in May 2024 and 63 deliveries to 36 customers in May 2023—a 4% year-over-year decrease.

Among the notable deliveries last month were Wizz Air’s first Airbus A321XLR and Kuwait Airways’ first A321neo, marking key milestones for both airlines.

So far in 2025, Airbus has delivered 243 aircraft, falling short of the pace needed to meet its annual target of around 820 commercial aircraft deliveries. The delivery breakdown by month includes:

  • January: 25 aircraft to 17 customers
  • February: 40 aircraft to 25 customers
  • March: 71 aircraft to 37 customers
  • April: 56 aircraft to 33 customers
  • May: 51 aircraft to 32 customers

Airbus continues to face supply chain challenges, particularly with engine availability, similar to the difficulties impacting Boeing and other manufacturers. These issues are limiting the pace of aircraft handovers despite steady demand from global carriers.

Industry observers expect Airbus to unveil new orders at the upcoming air show, which could shift momentum in the second half of 2025.
