Airbus Surpasses 16,000 Aircraft Deliveries

In a monumental milestone, European aerospace giant Airbus announced on March 7, 2025, that it has now delivered 16,028 aircraft since its inception. This historic achievement marks a major turning point in the company’s storied history, as it cements Airbus’ role as one of the world’s foremost aircraft manufacturers. The 16,000th delivery was an A321neo, reportedly going to British low-cost airline Jet2 through a lease arrangement with ICBS Leasing—a landmark moment that symbolizes Airbus’ continuous drive for innovation and growth.

The milestone was highlighted in Airbus’ February 2025 orders and delivery update, which revealed a busy period for the manufacturer. In February 2025 alone, the company delivered 40 aircraft to 25 customers, including well-known carriers such as Delta Air Lines, China Eastern Airlines, British Airways, and Air France. In addition, Airbus secured 14 new orders during the same period. Notably, these new orders included six A321neos from Korean Air and eight additional A321neos from an undisclosed customer, underlining the continuing demand for the popular narrowbody jet in the global market.

While the latest figures reflect a record-breaking achievement, Airbus’ production numbers have seen a slight dip compared to previous years. For instance, in February 2024, the company delivered 49 aircraft to 28 customers, indicating a minor decline in output over the year. Similarly, in January 2025, Airbus delivered 25 aircraft to 17 customers, compared to 30 deliveries to 18 customers in January 2024. Despite these modest variances, Airbus’ overall performance remains strong as it strives to meet growing global demand for commercial jetliners.

Looking ahead, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury expressed optimism about the future, stating that the company is targeting around 820 commercial jet deliveries in 2025. This represents an increase of just over 7% compared to the number delivered in 2024—a year in which deliveries fell slightly short of Airbus’ initial forecast of 770 aircraft. Faury’s outlook reflects the company’s commitment to ramping up production and expanding its market presence, even as the aviation industry continues to navigate complex global challenges.

The record-breaking achievement of surpassing 16,000 deliveries is a testament to Airbus’ relentless pursuit of excellence. Over the years, the company has continuously pushed the boundaries of technology and innovation to deliver state-of-the-art aircraft that meet the evolving needs of airlines worldwide. This milestone not only underscores Airbus’ significant contributions to the aviation industry but also highlights its capacity to adapt and thrive amid market fluctuations and changing consumer demands.

For airlines, the reliability and efficiency of Airbus’ products have long been key factors in their fleet renewal and expansion strategies. As the aviation industry recovers from past challenges and enters a new phase of growth, the strong performance of Airbus serves as a robust indicator of future trends in air travel.

With its impressive pipeline of orders and a proven track record, Airbus is well-positioned to continue its leadership in the commercial aviation market. As the company celebrates this remarkable milestone, the focus remains on delivering cutting-edge aircraft that not only meet the demands of today’s airlines but also pave the way for the future of global air travel.
