AirHelp Reveals Worst Airports for Summer Travel, Highlighting Potential Headaches
As the summer travel season approaches, concerns have been raised about the challenges faced by the airline industry, including staffing shortages and increased air traffic. Adding to these concerns, AirHelp, an airline industry website, has released its annual list of the world’s worst airports for summer travel, based on the number of disruptions experienced in the previous month.
Leading the list is Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport, with an estimated 34.6% of flights delayed in the past month. Known as a major gateway to Sin City, this bustling airport experiences significant delays. Texas also emerges unfavorably, with three of its airports ranking among the top 10 worst. Houston George Bush International comes in second place, with 31.7% of flights delayed, followed by Dallas/Fort Worth International in eighth place (25.4% of flights delayed) and Dallas Love Field in ninth place (22.6% of flights delayed).
Other airports that made it to the top 10 worst in the nation include Denver International in third place (29.6% of flights delayed), Honolulu International in fourth place (28.8% of flights delayed), and San Francisco International in fifth place (27% of flights delayed). Orlando International Airport takes the sixth spot, with 26.7% of flights departing behind schedule, while Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International ranks seventh with 26.3% of flights experiencing delays.
With over 24 million Americans expected to fly during the summer, the list serves as a useful reference for travelers planning their trips, particularly with the approaching July 4th holiday.
