Airline crews are sharing stories about the experiences they shared with Afghan refugees on evacuation flights. A Delta flight attendant who posted drawings made by child passengers said, “it was an honor to serve those who risked it all…They were the most humble customers and most precious cargo that we could ever carry on a flight.” “We weren’t really the face of American Airlines to them, we were the face of America to them. We were safety to them,” said flight attendant Gina Barnhardt. Atlas Air, Hawaiian and United Airlines also participated in the Afghanistan evacuation efforts under the Civil Reserve Air Fleet activation, while Alaska, and Southwest Airlines are providing domestic charter flights.
