AirlineRatings Launches Onboard Safety Audits

AirlineRatings has unveiled a new Onboard Safety Audit program designed to recognize excellence in in-flight safety and reassure travelers worldwide. Building on its widely used safety ratings and annual “World’s Best Airline” rankings, the independent ratings site is expanding its mission to make airline safety visible, accessible and easy to understand for passengers.
The new audits are customer-focused and anonymous, evaluating the onboard safety experience across six flights per airline, including domestic, international, short-haul, long-haul, day and overnight journeys. Airlines with an existing Seven Star safety rating that successfully complete the audits will be honored with a new Seven Star Plus distinction, the highest accolade AirlineRatings now offers. Carriers not yet at seven stars will receive detailed feedback to help them improve and potentially increase their rating.
For travelers, especially the estimated 40 percent who feel nervous about flying, these audits offer added peace of mind by focusing on what passengers directly experience in the cabin—the “face of safety.” AirlineRatings says the initiative will help customers confidently choose unfamiliar carriers and highlight the best in global aviation.
For airlines, the audits identify compliance gaps and provide actionable recommendations within a week of completion, enabling carriers to address issues before they become regulatory problems. Successful airlines receive branding, certification, and added visibility across AirlineRatings’ channels, as well as enhanced consideration in the site’s World’s Safest Airline Awards. With the first four audits already underway, AirlineRatings aims to elevate transparency and recognition of onboard safety standards worldwide.
