Airlines, crews continue to support Afghanistan evacuation
US airlines are proud to continue supporting the ongoing evacuation of Afghanistan, with United Airlines head Scott Kirby telling CNN “It’s gratifying to see the role we can play beyond just taking care of our customers…really stepping up in the crisis and doing the right thing for humanity,” and United Airlines pilot representative Todd Insler saying “It is an honor serving this vital role bringing US citizens home and ensuring our allies are out of harm’s way.” The aircraft activated under the Civil Reserve Air Fleet will be used through at least August 31, and Delta leader Ed Bastian says that the airline has “carried several thousand, I think over 3,000 refugees back … into safe territory here in the US.”
