Airlines seek clarity from FAA on upgraded altimeters

Airlines are concerned about a lack of specificity, transparency and formal regulation regarding requirements for commercial aircraft altimeters to be upgraded to avoid interference with the expanded 5G broadband spectrum. In addition to requesting more clarity from the Federal Aviation Administration, airlines are concerned that altimeter manufacturers will be unable to provide enough equipment to meet the FAA’s deadlines.
