South African regional carrier Airlink has announced a lease agreement for 10 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft from Florida-based lessor Azorra. The deal was unveiled during an Embraer press conference at the Paris Air Show 2025 on June 18. Deliveries from Embraer’s Brazil production line are scheduled to begin later this year and continue through 2027.

The new-generation twin-engine jets will expand Airlink’s current fleet of 68 aircraft, significantly improving fuel efficiency and capacity. Powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, the E195-E2 offers up to 29% fuel savings over previous-generation E195s and accommodates either 124 or 136 passengers—approximately 33% more than Airlink’s E190s.

“The E195-E2 will bolster our business, helping us to be even more competitive on key routes,” said Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht. “These aircraft are a perfect fit for our growth strategy in sub-Saharan Africa.”

Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer at Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted the longstanding partnership with Airlink: “Airlink has been a customer since 2001. The E2’s exceptional economics and premium product will support further growth across Africa.”

Embraer noted that the E2’s operational commonality with Airlink’s existing E-Jet fleet will allow for seamless integration, with added efficiencies in maintenance, crew training, and spare parts logistics.

Airlink currently serves 45 destinations across 15 countries, including Madagascar and St Helena Island. The E195-E2 fleet expansion is expected to strengthen Airlink’s position in regional markets while enabling network growth and reduced environmental impact.
