The Routes Americas 2025 Awards are set to honor excellence in airport and destination marketing by recognizing outstanding achievements in route development and airline partnerships. This year’s event will spotlight 15 airports, five destinations, and five airlines that have demonstrated exceptional performance in enhancing connectivity and driving passenger growth.

The competition features six distinct awards, including three categories dedicated solely to airport marketing excellence. These categories are organized by passenger volumes: Under 4 Million, 4-20 Million, and Over 20 Million. Each award honors airports that have not only expanded their networks but also provided vital marketing support to their airline partners. In addition, the Destination Award acknowledges the crucial role of regional tourism offices and local governments in supporting airlines, while the Airline Award celebrates effective collaborations that result in successful route launches. An overall winner will also be named from the list of recipients.

A panel of airline judges rigorously reviewed the Airport and Destination categories, ensuring that the finalists represent the best in route development strategies. Meanwhile, an editorial team evaluated the Airline category based on creativity and impact. Today’s focus is on the finalists from the three airport categories, with additional profiles for the Destination and Airline categories scheduled for release tomorrow. Winners will be announced on February 11 at Routes Americas 2025, hosted in Nassau and Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Among the finalists in the Under 4 Million category, Aruba Airport Authority’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) experienced significant growth in 2024, surpassing 3 million passengers thanks to a 14% increase and the introduction of new routes to Lima and São Paulo. Curaçao International Airport (CUR) marked a record year with 2.1 million passengers, driven by strategic route retention and market diversification, while Halifax Stanfield International (YHZ) in Canada reported an 11% rise, adding new transborder and transatlantic services. Québec City Jean-Lesage International (YQB) and Syracuse Hancock International (SYR) also showcased innovative marketing and route development strategies, setting new benchmarks in regional connectivity.

In the 4-20 Million category, Buenos Aires’ Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) welcomed a historic 14.9 million passengers and expanded its network with new domestic and international routes. Calgary International Airport (YYC) strengthened global ties through customized incentives and partnerships, while Indianapolis International (IND) broke records by reaching its first 10 million passengers. Sarasota Bradenton International (SRQ) and Florianópolis Airport (FLN) in Brazil further exemplified impressive growth by launching numerous new routes and innovative marketing campaigns.

For the Over 20 Million category, Denver International (DEN) led with over 82 million passengers, while Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) and Nashville International (BNA) boosted international connectivity with new routes from carriers like Emirates and Aer Lingus. Tampa International (TPA) and Washington Dulles (IAD) also demonstrated exceptional performance, adding multiple international destinations and attracting major airline partners.

The Routes Americas 2025 Awards celebrate these milestones and set the stage for further innovation in airport and destination marketing worldwide. These awards not only celebrate current successes but also inspire future innovations across the aviation industry.
