AirX Wins Saudi Domestic Charter Approval

AirX Charter has secured authorisation from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation to conduct domestic on-demand charter operations within the Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in the operator’s Middle East expansion strategy.
The Malta-based executive jet operator said the approval reflects rising demand for long-range corporate, governmental, and high-end private travel across Saudi Arabia. With the new authorisation, AirX becomes the third executive jet operator cleared to provide domestic charter services in the Kingdom, following VistaJet (Malta), which obtained approval in August, and Flexjet Operations (Malta), authorised in December.
The move follows regulatory reforms introduced by GACA in May, when cabotage restrictions on foreign-operated, on-demand charter flights were lifted. The policy change opened the Saudi domestic market to select international operators, supporting the country’s broader aviation liberalisation agenda and ambitions to position itself as a leading global aviation and business hub under Vision 2030.
AirX operates a fleet of 20 aircraft tailored to long-range and VIP missions. Its portfolio includes one Airbus A340-300 and one Boeing 737-700 Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), both configured for private and government travel. The fleet also features eight Bombardier Challenger 850s, four Embraer Legacy 600s, and five Embraer Lineage 1000s. In addition, a Challenger 604 was added in late 2025 but has yet to enter commercial service.
The combination of widebody, narrowbody, and large-cabin business jets enables AirX to serve ultra-long-haul routes as well as high-capacity executive movements, a capability that aligns with Saudi Arabia’s increasing demand for premium air travel linked to major infrastructure projects, investment flows, and high-profile events.
By gaining domestic charter rights in Saudi Arabia, AirX strengthens its footprint in one of the fastest-growing private aviation markets globally. The authorisation allows the operator to offer greater flexibility to clients requiring point-to-point travel within the Kingdom, complementing its existing international charter operations and reinforcing Malta’s role as a hub for globally active executive jet operators.
