AJet Readies for Launch with New Website and Ticket Sales Under Its Brand
AJet, previously known as AnadoluJet and a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, is stepping towards its official launch on March 31 with the rollout of its standalone website and the commencement of ticket sales under its unique brand. This move marks a significant transition for the airline as it prepares to operate independently under its own ‘VF’ code, differentiating itself from its parent company’s ‘TK’ code.
The airline has already secured its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and introduced its first two B737-800 aircraft into the fleet. Until now, AJet has utilized these aircraft for proving flights, with commercial operations yet to resume since their reassignment from Turkish Airlines. The operational shift to its ‘VF’ code is scheduled for the end of March, signaling AJet’s full transition to a standalone carrier, although flight schedules under the new code are pending.
Currently functioning under the AnadoluJet brand and Turkish Airlines’ AOC, the airline operates a diverse fleet of 73 aircraft, including nine A320-200Ns, fourteen A321-200NX, seven B737-8s, and forty-three B737-800s. Additionally, AJet has engaged in wet-lease agreements for seven A320-200s from SmartLynx Airlines and its subsidiaries, ten A321-200s, and two B737-8s from SmartLynx Malta.
With plans to elevate its fleet to 95 aircraft by the summer of 2024 and reach a milestone of 200 aircraft within the next decade, AJet is poised for significant growth. This ambitious expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings and broadening its operational footprint.
AJet’s emergence as a standalone brand underscores a strategic evolution within Turkish Airlines’ portfolio, offering passengers additional choices and potentially new destinations. As AJet embarks on this new chapter, the aviation community and passengers alike await the airline’s official launch and its impact on the competitive landscape of the industry.
