Alaska Airlines will launch new international routes from Seattle to London and Reykjavik in May 2026, expanding its global footprint following its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. The move marks a strategic push into long-haul markets as demand for international and premium travel continues to outpace domestic U.S. growth.

Daily flights from Seattle to London Heathrow will be operated on Alaska’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, targeting both business and leisure travelers. Seasonal service to Reykjavik, Iceland, will run during the spring and summer months using Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.

This expansion builds on Alaska’s earlier announcement of nonstop Seattle–Rome flights beginning in 2026. Shortly after, Delta Air Lines revealed its own plans for routes from Seattle to Rome and Barcelona, highlighting intensifying competition for transatlantic travelers.

Alaska Airlines also plans to begin Seattle–Seoul flights in September, adding to its existing Tokyo Narita service, which launched in May. By next year, the carrier expects to operate at least 12 intercontinental nonstop routes from its Seattle hub.

As part of its international strategy, Alaska has unveiled a new livery for its Dreamliner fleet. The refreshed design, inspired by the northern lights, will debut on new 787-9s directly from the factory.

Following its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska has confirmed that both brands will remain distinct and visible on their respective fleets. “They will remain unchanged as essential elements of our brands’ legacies and history,” the airline stated.

The added routes and new aircraft livery signal Alaska’s intent to grow as a global carrier while honoring its Pacific roots.
