Alaska Airlines Adds London, Reykjavik to Seattle Networ

Alaska Airlines will launch new nonstop flights from Seattle Tacoma International to London Heathrow and Reykjavik Keflavik next spring, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft operated by sister carrier Hawaiian Airlines and its own Boeing 737-8s. These routes join the previously announced Seattle–Rome Fiumicino service, set to begin in May 2026, as part of the airline’s expanded transatlantic offering.
The new destinations are a key step in Alaska’s three-year strategic plan to position Seattle as the West Coast’s “premier global gateway.” The expansion follows Alaska Air Group’s acquisition of Hawaiian Holdings, enabling access to long-haul aircraft suitable for intercontinental routes.
In addition to Europe, Alaska has been boosting its Asia-Pacific network. The airline launched Seattle–Tokyo Narita flights on May 12 and will add service to Seoul Incheon on September 12. The expanded network aims to strengthen Alaska’s competitive position against larger global carriers operating from the West Coast.
London Heathrow will connect Alaska’s passengers to one of the world’s busiest hubs, offering extensive onward connections across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Reykjavik Keflavik will serve as a gateway to Iceland’s growing tourism market and provide convenient links to Scandinavia and mainland Europe.
By combining Hawaiian Airlines’ long-haul fleet with Alaska’s operational base in Seattle, the carrier plans to offer a broader international network while maintaining its strong domestic presence. These new routes underscore Alaska Airlines’ commitment to growth and diversification, tapping into both leisure and business travel demand across key global markets.
