Alaska Airlines and Air India Forge Interline Partnership and Alaska Announces New Portland-Nashville Connection
Alaska Airlines and Air India have formed a strategic interline partnership, significantly enhancing connectivity for international passengers. This partnership enables Air India passengers to have seamless connections to and from 32 destinations across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The agreement includes bilateral interlining, allowing both airlines to offer tickets for travel on each other’s networks. Furthermore, a Special Prorate Agreement is in place, permitting Air India to offer ‘through fares’ for routes covering Alaska Airlines’ network. This collaboration is a notable enhancement to the airlines’ offerings, providing passengers with more versatile and convenient travel options.
Air India currently operates 47 non-stop flights per week connecting major Indian cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to key US destinations, including New York, Newark, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco. The airline is planning a significant expansion, with over 400 new weekly flights in the upcoming winter season, half of which will serve international destinations. This expansion aims to increase connectivity between India and regions like North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
Additionally, Alaska Airlines has announced a new connection between Portland and Nashville, introducing the only direct service between these two cities. This route, commencing on March 14, 2024, will feature daily, year-round flights, departing mid-morning from Portland and late afternoon from Nashville.
This service becomes the 53rd nonstop destination from Portland offered by Alaska Airlines, which has been the largest carrier in Portland for over two decades. The airline now serves more destinations nonstop from Portland outside the Pacific Northwest than it did in 2019, underlining its commitment to expanding its network and providing customers with greater travel flexibility.
