Alaska Airlines has introduced a new feature that allows customers to verify their passports from home using their mobile devices. The feature, called ‘Mobile Verify’, simplifies the passport verification process for passengers holding U.S. or Canadian passports who are traveling internationally.

The feature, which is available on the Alaska Airlines app and website, enables customers to scan their passports using their smartphone cameras and upload them to a secure platform for verification. The feature uses advanced biometric technology to match the passport photo with the customer’s face and confirm their identity. The feature also checks the validity and expiration date of the passport.

The feature aims to save customers time and hassle at the airport, as they can skip the manual passport verification at the check-in counter or kiosk. Customers who use the feature will receive a digital boarding pass on their mobile devices, which they can use to proceed directly to security and boarding. The feature also reduces the risk of losing or forgetting the passport, as well as the contact with airport staff and equipment.

The feature is currently available for customers traveling from Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Anchorage to Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica. The airline plans to expand the feature to more international destinations in the future.

Alaska Airlines said that it launched the feature in response to customer feedback and demand for a more convenient and seamless travel experience. The airline said that it was committed to enhancing its digital services and offering more choices and flexibility for its customers.
