Alitalia Estate Offers Engines, Parts, and Warehouse for Sale

Alitalia’s estate under special administration has issued new public tenders for the sale of aircraft engines and a warehouse containing aviation components, materials, and spare parts, as part of ongoing efforts to liquidate the airline’s remaining assets.
In two separate notices, the administrators are inviting binding offers for the purchase of:
- Three General Electric engines: two CF34-8E5 engines (serial numbers 193164 and 902407) and one GE90-90B engine (serial number 900201). Offers are due by June 27, 2025, and must remain valid through December 31, 2025.
- A complete stock of aircraft parts stored in a technical warehouse at Rome Fiumicino Airport. The lot includes consumables, expendables, rotables, tools, and repairable items. The sale will not be conducted per item. Atitech S.p.A., which acquired Alitalia’s maintenance division in 2022, holds the right of first refusal at the final bid price. Offers must be submitted by July 18, 2025, and remain valid through year-end.
These sales follow an earlier 2024 tender for a used Boeing 777-200ER (registration I-DISU, msn 32858) with two GE90-94B engines.
Alitalia and its regional arm, Alitalia CityLiner, entered special administration in 2017 due to insolvency. After several failed restructuring attempts and the COVID-19 crisis, the Italian government nationalized the airline in 2020 and established ITA Airways in 2021 to replace it. ITA acquired several of Alitalia’s core assets and began operations in October 2021. Lufthansa Group later acquired a 41% stake in ITA Airways, finalized in January 2025.
