For the ninth consecutive year, Japan’s ANA Group has been awarded gold recognition in the PRIDE Index 2024 by “Work With Pride,” a renowned Japanese nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering inclusive workplaces. This prestigious accolade highlights ANA Group’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ employees.

The PRIDE Index is a significant assessment tool aimed at promoting workplaces in Japan where LGBTQ+ individuals can thrive comfortably. By achieving gold status year after year, ANA Group demonstrates its consistent dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within its corporate culture.

ANA Group has long prioritized the development of an inclusive work environment, actively supporting LGBTQ+ rights through a variety of educational and engagement initiatives. These efforts include seminars, e-learning courses, and discussion groups designed to educate employees about LGBTQ+ issues and promote understanding and acceptance across the organization.

Central to ANA Group’s approach is its Basic Policy on Respect for Diversity of Sexuality (LGBTQ+). This policy serves as the foundation for the company’s DEI strategies, outlining the principles and practices that ensure all employees feel respected and valued regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In 2023, ANA Group expanded its inclusive initiatives by engaging nearly 580 employees as allies. These allies play a crucial role in supporting and advocating for their LGBTQ+ colleagues, further strengthening the company’s inclusive culture.

Junko Yazawa, Group Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer at ANA Group, expressed her pride in the company’s achievements. “We strive daily to champion diversity, inclusion, and acceptance,” Yazawa stated. “Our ANA Group LGBTQ+ Policy is central to this mission, providing the training and systems necessary to eliminate discrimination and prejudice. Achieving Gold recognition for the ninth consecutive year is a significant achievement, and we remain committed to finding new ways to foster a truly inclusive workplace for all our employees.”

The gold recognition from the PRIDE Index is based on five key factors: policy, representation, inspiration (activities to raise awareness), development (training and educational programs), and engagement/empowerment. Impressively, 36 of ANA HOLDING’s group companies performed with distinction in all these categories, underscoring the widespread impact of the company’s DEI efforts across its global operations.

ANA Group’s success in the PRIDE Index reflects its broader strategy to integrate DEI into every aspect of its business operations. By investing in comprehensive training programs and fostering a culture of inclusion, ANA Group not only supports its LGBTQ+ employees but also sets a benchmark for other companies in the aviation industry and beyond.

The consistent recognition from Work With Pride highlights the effectiveness of ANA Group’s policies and initiatives in creating an environment where all employees can succeed. As societal expectations around workplace diversity and inclusion continue to evolve, ANA Group’s proactive approach ensures it remains a leader in fostering an equitable and supportive workplace.

ANA Group is committed to building on its achievements by continuously enhancing its DEI initiatives. The company aims to explore new avenues for promoting inclusion and support, ensuring that its workplace remains a safe haven for all employees. This ongoing commitment will help ANA Group maintain its status as a top employer in Japan and a model for inclusive practices worldwide.
