All Nippon ANA Holdings has made a substantial move in the aviation industry by placing firm orders for 68 aircraft from Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer, marking a significant fleet expansion and modernization. This order includes a historic first for Japan with the purchase of E190-E2 regional jets, intended for domestic routes under the ANA brand, potentially to be operated by regional subsidiary ANA Wings.

The comprehensive order encompasses fifteen E190-E2s slated for delivery from the 2028 financial year through to 2032, with an option for an additional five of these regional jets. This marks a new direction for ANA, which currently operates a regional fleet consisting solely of twenty-three DHC-8-Q400s, with more on order, and had to cancel a previous order for M90s due to the program’s cancellation.

Additionally, ANA has committed to eighteen Boeing 787-9s equipped with General Electric GEnx engines, scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2031, alongside firming up five options from a 2019 agreement. These aircraft are primarily destined for North American routes, operating out of Tokyo Narita.

The order also includes a substantial commitment to narrowbody aircraft with ANA and its low-cost subsidiary, Peach Aviation, adding new Airbus and Boeing jets. ANA will incorporate fourteen A321-200Ns and eight Boeing 737-8s, with deliveries stretching from 2029 to 2033. Peach Aviation is set to receive ten A321-200Ns and three A321-200NY(XLR)s by 2032, enhancing its capability to open new markets beyond its current range. This expansion reflects ANA’s strategic focus on updating its fleet with more efficient and versatile aircraft.
