Allegiant Air Announces Major Expansion with 44 New Routes
Allegiant Air has unveiled one of the largest expansions in its 27-year history, adding 44 nonstop routes and three new destinations to its network in 2025. The Las Vegas-based airline will introduce flights to Gulf Shores Airport (GUF) in Alabama, Colorado Springs Airport (COS) in Colorado, and Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) in South Carolina. The new routes will begin in February 2025, with fares starting as low as $39 one-way.
This expansion will increase Allegiant’s network to 51 cities nationwide, reflecting its commitment to connecting underserved communities with top leisure destinations. Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, emphasized the airline’s dedication to affordability and convenience. “By connecting more cities, we’re making it easier for travelers to visit family and friends, access top leisure destinations, and create new memories,” Wells said.
Highlights of the Expansion

- Fare Sale: Promotional one-way fares starting at $39 to celebrate the launch.
- Expanded Services: Flights added from major airports, including:
- Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL).

Strategy and Growth
Allegiant’s business model focuses on offering ultra-low-cost fares and seasonal service during peak leisure demand, such as holidays and school breaks. This strategy has helped the airline thrive while other smaller carriers face challenges competing against legacy airlines. The expansion reflects strong demand for affordable leisure travel and Allegiant’s ability to fill gaps in underserved markets.
Fleet and Future Plans
The airline currently operates a fleet of 130 aircraft, including 35 Airbus A319s, 94 A320s, and one Boeing 737 MAX 8-200. Allegiant has an additional 25 737 MAX 8-200s and 24 737 MAX 7s on order. These aircraft will support the airline’s growing route network and bolster its position as a leading low-cost carrier.
A Vision for Growth
Allegiant’s aggressive expansion aligns with its long-term vision of serving niche markets and maintaining low operating costs. By focusing on leisure travelers and underserved regions, the airline continues to differentiate itself in a competitive market. This latest announcement marks a significant step forward in Allegiant’s ongoing mission to provide affordable travel options across the United States.
