Aloha Air Cargo Joins Relief Efforts for Maui Wildfires

Aloha Air Cargo has helped ship over 77,000 pounds of relief items to Maui to help people affected by the wildfires on the Hawaiian island.

Additionally, the airline had offered Hawaii customers free shipping to Maui from Wednesday August 9, but ended this initiative as its “warehouse space has reached its full capacity”.

In an operational update on August 13, the airline said: “Due to the immense outpouring of support from all of you, we have received over 250,000 pounds of essential goods. We are incredibly touched at the generosity and support we have seen at our stations as customers have selflessly donated all they can for our ‘ohana in Maui.”

The airline said it has also organised a drive through donation event on August 19 to collect supplies for the Maui community. Donation in the form of non-perishable food items, non-hazardous items, toiletries, new or gently used clothing and bedding will be delivered to the Maui Food Bank and Hawaii Strong Fund/ Hawaii Community Foundation.

The wildfires have claimed the lives of nearly 100 people and destroyed infrastructure across the island.

Hawaiian Airlines has also been transporting vital cargo as part of humanitarian aid efforts.
