AmaWaterways Christens Its 26th River Ship In Germany
A New River Beauty
AmaWaterways founders Kristin Karst and Rudi Schreiner hosted a christening ceremony for the line’s 26th river ship, the AmaLucia, on the Rhine River in Rudesheim, Germany.

Rudi Schreiner had a hand in building Uniworld, Viking and Avalon Waterways, before joining forces with his wife Kristin Karst and the late Jimmy Murphy to create AmaWaterways.
Ama Means Love
AmaWaterways’ music director David Onka performed his original song ‘Ama Means Love’ at the christening ceremony for AmaLucia. You can see a video for the song here.
This Calls For Champagne
AmaLucia crew members wait to serve champagne to guests at the AmaLucia christening ceremony on a beautiful day at Rudesheim, Germany.
Youthful Godparents
During a dinner with their father, AmaWaterways partner Gary Farmer, and Ama co-founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst, Will and Riley Farmer suggested the name ‘AmaLucia’ — pronounced Lu-CHEE-a — for the line’s next ship. The name stuck, and the two were selected as ‘godparents’ for the ship. Despite their tender ages, the two gave eloquent speeches to welcome the new ship to the Ama fleet.
Next-Generation Christening
Will and Riley Farmer had the honour of releasing the champagne bottle to christen the latest AmaWaterways ship AmaLucia. At 11 and 14 years old, they were too young to join in the toast, but they’ll have lasting memories of a beautiful day on the Rhine.
