American Airlines Expands Caribbean Flight Schedule from Charlotte Hub

American Airlines, the world’s largest airline, has announced that it will expand its Caribbean flight schedule from its hub in Charlotte, N.C., starting from December 2023. The airline will offer a 40% increase in flights to the region, including four new destinations: St Croix in the US Virgin Islands, Curacao, Los Cabos on Mexico’s Baja peninsula and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.

According to the airline’s website, the new routes and frequencies from Charlotte to the Caribbean are as follows:

  • St Croix: Daily service starting from December 16, 2023.
  • Curacao: Saturday service starting from December 18, 2023.
  • Los Cabos: Saturday service starting from December 18, 2023.
  • Puerto Plata: Saturday service starting from December 18, 2023.

In addition, the airline will also increase the frequency of existing flights from Charlotte to other Caribbean destinations, such as Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Maarten and Turks and Caicos.

Largest Winter Schedule to Latin America and Caribbean
The expansion of the Caribbean flight schedule from Charlotte is part of American Airlines’ largest winter schedule to Latin America and Caribbean in history. The airline will offer over 2,250 flights each week across 90 destinations in the region, growing its capacity by 10%.

The airline’s vice president of network planning Brian Znotins said that the demand for travel to Latin America and Caribbean is strong and that American Airlines is committed to providing more options and flexibility for its customers.

“We are excited to offer our customers more opportunities to explore the beauty and culture of this region, whether they are looking for a relaxing beach getaway, an adventure in nature or a cultural immersion,” he said.

Customers can also enjoy benefits such as free checked bags, priority boarding and lounge access when they book flights with American Airlines using their AAdvantage miles or co-branded credit cards. The airline also offers flexible booking policies and enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience
