American Airlines Expands Envoy Air Fleet with Seven Additional Embraer E175s
American Airlines has recently finalized a firm order with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer for seven new E175 jets, which will be operated by its regional subsidiary, Envoy Air. Valued at approximately $403.4 million, this agreement will raise Envoy’s fleet of E-Jets to over 141 by the end of 2024.
The delivery of the new E175s is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2023. These aircraft will feature 76 seats, including 12 in first class and 64 in the main cabin. The E175 is widely acclaimed as a preferred choice for regional flights due to its excellent passenger comfort, performance, and efficiency.
Pedro Fábregas, President and CEO of Envoy, expressed his satisfaction with the longstanding partnership between Envoy and Embraer, which began 25 years ago with the ERJ145. He highlighted the outstanding performance and reliability of the E-Jets, enabling Envoy to deliver exceptional service to American Airlines and its passengers.
Arjan Meijer, CEO and President of Embraer Commercial Aviation, acknowledged the significance of the E175 in enhancing connectivity throughout the United States, despite challenges faced by the regional aviation sector. Embraer expressed gratitude to American Airlines and Envoy for their enduring partnership.
In addition to the American Airlines order, Embraer secured a substantial contract from Spanish carrier Binter for 18 E195-E2 aircraft, with an option for an additional 12. The deal, valued at $1.3 billion, was announced at the Paris Air Show and marks Binter as the first European customer for the E195-E2, the largest variant in the E-Jet E2 family.
Embraer is a prominent global manufacturer of commercial aircraft with a seating capacity of up to 150 passengers. Since 2004, they have delivered over 1,500 E-Jets to customers in 80 countries. The E-Jets family encompasses four models: E170, E175, E190, and E195. Additionally, the E-Jet E2 family includes three new aircraft: E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2.
