American Airlines now has non-stop flights from Albany to Miami
(July 6, 2021) – Starting Nov. 6, American Airlines will offer weekly nonstop flights from Albany International Airport to Miami International Airport.
The seasonal service will operate through April 2, 2022. Tickets are on sale now at aa.com.
“Today’s exciting announcement of nonstop flights to Miami is another example of our team’s focus on adding new direct flights,” said Philip Calderone, CEO of the Albany County Airport Authority. “Florida has traditionally been the top destination for Albany air travelers, and American’s decision to provide nonstop service to Miami will now offer our travelers improved connectivity to popular vacation destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as connections to cruise operations in Miami.”
“New seasonal service to Miami builds on our strategy to offer customers the industry’s best network, with easy access to hundreds of destinations across the globe,” added Brian Znotins, American’s vice president of network planning.
The weekly Albany-Miami nonstop service will use an Embraer 175 aircraft, with about 80 seats, and will depart and return on Saturdays.
This is the latest nonstop service to Florida, with other flights going to Orlando/Sanford, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa. There also are seasonal flights to Punta Gorda near Fort Myers, said airport spokesman Doug Myers.
American Airlines service from Albany also includes nonstop flights to Charlotte, Chicago-O’Hare, Philadelphia and Washington-National.
In 2019, American Airlines and its affiliates carried over 312,000 passengers at Albany International Airport.
With today’s announcement, American further solidifies its position as the largest airline at Miami International Airport, operating 341 peak daily flights from Miami.
Passenger traffic at Albany International Airport has been increasing daily due to the reduction in COVID-19 cases and the increased number of those that have been vaccinated.
Albany is now operating at between 60-70 percent of 2019 passenger enplanements.
