Sad as it is, summer is quickly fading into the rearview mirror.

But American Airlines is already planning for summer 2024. And they’re doing so by announcing four entirely new routes and resurrecting another route, all as part of what is being billed as the airline’s “largest trans-Atlantic expansion since 2019.”

American is adding new nonstop service to Europe, with flights between Philadelphia (PHL) and Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH); as well as between Naples, Italy (NAP); and Nice, France (NCE).

In addition, American is launching new service between Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Barcelona, Spain (BCN) and bringing back flights between Chicago (ORD) and Venice, Italy (VCE).

“New service from Philadelphia and expanded trans-Atlantic service from Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth will offer customers convenient one-stop access from more than 200 unique destinations across the U.S. to Europe next summer,” Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning, said in a statement.

Philadelphia to Europe
American is planning to offer 15 daily nonstop flights between Philadelphia and 14 European destinations next summer. This represents the carrier’s largest trans-Atlantic schedule from the city since 2019.

The service between Philadelphia and the French Riviera destination of Nice, France will kick off on May 6, 2024. A few weeks later, on June 5, American will begin its service between Philadelphia and Naples, Italy. This will be the airline’s fourth Italian destination. The airline’s new Copenhagen service will kick off on June 6.

Additional Connections
Philadelphia isn’t the only new location from which travelers can now fly to Europe with American. The carrier is also launching new service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Barcelona for the first time next summer.

“American will expand its position as the largest U.S. airline serving BCN…with five gateways to choose from across the U.S.,” the airline said in a statement. The new flights between DFW and BCN will kick-off on June 5, 2024.

Come summer 2024, the airline will also be the sole carrier to offer nonstop service from Chicago to Venice, Italy. These flights will also begin June 5.

American also recently expanded service on routes to several key trans-Atlantic destinations, including Lisbon, Portugal (LIS), Madrid (MAD), and Rome (FCO), and will begin providing customers year-round flight options moving forward.

Caribbean Route Expansions
As part of today’s announcement, American also revealed that it will also be expanding Caribbean service. Those expansions will start this winter.

In particular, the airline plans to expand service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Eleuthera, Bahamas to offer daily flights from February 15, 2023 through April 3, 2024. There will also be expanded service between Charlotte and Georgetown, Bahamas during the same timeframe, and between Charlotte and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas.

Additional service expansions include offering two daily flights from Dallas Fort Worth and Cozumel, Mexico from January 8, 2024 through April 3, 2024. And beginning on February 15, 2024, the airline will expand its service to offer daily flights between DFW and Nassau, Bahamas.

Dallas isn’t the only city where flight service to the Caribbean will be expanded by American. Flight options from Miami will also multiply. Highlights include two daily flights between MIA and Anguilla from January 8, 2924 through April 3.

There will also be three daily flights between MIA and Bridgetown, Barbados, St. Maarten, and Tortola, BVI during the same time frame.
