American Cruise Lines has officially christened its newest vessel, American Patriot, during a traditional ceremony held last week in Newport, Rhode Island. The event marked the debut of the first ship in the company’s new Patriot Class, setting the stage for an expanded fleet of modern U.S.-built river and coastal ships.

The 130-passenger American Patriot will soon be joined by three sister ships—American Pioneer, American Maverick, and American Ranger—scheduled to launch later in 2024 and throughout 2026. Each ship in the Patriot Class is designed to offer a refined, comfortable cruising experience focused on exploring American waterways with deeper destination immersion.

Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, expressed pride in the ceremony’s location and timing. “We are so pleased to be back in Newport this summer, christening yet another new U.S. ship and celebrating the Fourth of July with our guests,” Robertson said. He also acknowledged the ship’s godmother, Susan Daly, president of Sail Newport, for her role in the event and her connection to the local maritime community.

The christening was attended by members of the Eagle Society, the line’s loyalty club for returning guests, many of whom have sailed with American Cruise Lines multiple times. Their presence underscored the brand’s strong connection with its most loyal travelers and its mission to offer immersive journeys focused on U.S. history, culture, and landscapes.

The line also took the opportunity to begin its countdown to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. In celebration of the milestone, American Cruise Lines will introduce a series of extended sailings designed to spotlight the country’s heritage and scenic beauty. These special itineraries will aim to showcase historic ports and culturally significant destinations across the United States.

With the launch of American Patriot and more ships on the horizon, American Cruise Lines continues to grow its fleet and solidify its reputation as a leader in small-ship cruising focused on America’s rivers, coasts, and historical landmarks.
