American Cruise Lines has announced the details of its highly anticipated 2025 season on the Mississippi River, promising an array of diverse itineraries and enhanced onboard experiences for travelers. Throughout the year, the company will operate five riverboats, offering more than 12 unique itineraries along the Mississippi River and its tributaries. These sailings will range from 8 to 51 days, covering 10 states from New Orleans, Louisiana, to St. Paul, Minnesota.
The 2025 season kicks off on February 21 with the American Serenade embarking on a 9-day “Lower Mississippi River Cruise” from New Orleans to Memphis. This inaugural voyage sets the stage for a year filled with both classic and innovative cruise experiences tailored to a variety of traveler preferences.
New for this season, American Cruise Lines is introducing a 12-day “Mississippi Explorer Cruise” traveling from Memphis back to New Orleans, as well as a 16-day “Grand Ohio River Cruise” that journeys from Pittsburgh to St. Louis. Additionally, the season features two of the longest U.S. river cruises available: the new 51-day “Great United States” itinerary and the 36-day “Civil War Battlefields Cruise.” These extensive voyages will navigate the Mississippi River and other significant waterways, offering passengers immersive and comprehensive exploration opportunities.
Passengers will have the option to choose between classic paddlewheelers, which provide a nostalgic cruising experience, and modern riverboats equipped with the latest amenities. Shore excursions are designed to enrich the travel experience, featuring activities such as visiting Mark Twain’s boyhood home and embarking on adventurous ATV treks.
All voyages include a pre-cruise hotel stay, private transportation, complimentary cocktails, Wi-Fi, and other amenities, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey from start to finish.
“We are thrilled to welcome travelers aboard our riverboats for the 2025 season,” said a spokesperson for American Cruise Lines. “Our expanded itinerary options and enhanced onboard offerings are designed to provide unforgettable experiences for our guests as they explore the rich history and vibrant cultures along the Mississippi River.”
The addition of new cruise offerings follows American Cruise Lines’ recent fleet renewal, which included the incorporation of an A330-800N and a DHC-8-Q200 in 2022 and 2023, respectively. By expanding its fleet and route network, the company aims to maximize operational efficiency and cater to the growing demand for river cruises in the region.
With a blend of shorter, regionally focused cruises and longer, more extensive voyages, American Cruise Lines is poised to meet a wide range of passenger preferences and travel styles. Whether seeking a brief getaway or an in-depth exploration of America’s heartland, travelers have an array of options to choose from during the 2025 Mississippi River season.
American Cruise Lines’ 2025 Mississippi River season promises a vibrant mix of itineraries and enhanced passenger experiences, solidifying the company’s position as a premier provider of river cruises in the United States. As the season approaches, eager travelers can look forward to a year of memorable voyages along one of America’s most iconic waterways.
