American Express is expanding its exclusive Centurion Lounge network by opening a new location at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. This announcement marks the introduction of the 15th Centurion Lounge in the United States, set to open its doors on Wednesday.

The new lounge at Reagan Airport, which ranks as the country’s 24th-largest airport by passenger enplanements, reflects American Express’s commitment to enhancing travel experiences for its cardholders. The lounge will offer premium amenities that have made the Centurion brand a favored aspect of travel for American Express Platinum and Centurion card members.

According to Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, the lounge is designed to serve the needs of frequent travelers through this busy hub with features such as high-end culinary offerings curated by three award-winning chefs, a meeting room, a shower suite, and a unique art collection. This collection includes a standout ceiling sculpture composed of 260 lanterns, mirroring the historical boundaries of Washington D.C.

This development is part of American Express’s broader strategy to provide luxurious and exclusive benefits to its cardholders. The company recently invested $400 million to acquire the restaurant reservation management company Tock, underscoring its commitment to offering premium services. The Centurion Lounges are a key element of this strategy, with American Express noting that they significantly enhance the airport experience, encouraging cardholders to arrive earlier to enjoy the facilities.
