An American Airlines employee passed away following an accident involving a jet bridge at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport AUS, as reported by airport officials.

The incident occurred in the area where planes park at the terminal, according to a spokesperson for the airport located in Austin, Texas. Emergency medical services were called to the scene and found the person had sustained fatal “traumatic injuries.” Austin Police reported that the man was driving a service vehicle that collided with a jet bridge and said they are treating the incident as an accident.

Witnesses are cooperating with the investigation. There were no significant impacts on airport operations. American Airlines expressed their sorrow and extended their thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family and colleagues.
