ANA to Phase Out AirJapan Brand by March 2026

ANA Holdings has confirmed it will discontinue flight operations under the AirJapan brand by the end of March 2026. The subsidiary will remain in existence but will operate international services under the main ANA – All Nippon Airways brand instead.

The decision follows ongoing challenges caused by the prolonged grounding of ANA’s Boeing 787 fleet, aircraft delivery delays, and the operational impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. AirJapan currently operates two Boeing 787-8s and one 787-9 transferred from ANA, serving routes from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok, Singapore, and Seoul. These routes will continue until the brand’s phase-out next March.

Afterward, AirJapan will retain its air operator’s certificate but will function primarily as a capacity provider for ANA. Its aircraft and staff will be fully integrated into ANA’s mainline operations to support the airline’s expanding international network. ANA said AirJapan’s high operational standards will continue to strengthen the group’s global business.

Launched in 2024, AirJapan was designed as a hybrid carrier bridging ANA’s full-service offering and Peach Aviation’s low-cost model, focusing on inbound leisure travel. The carrier had planned to expand its fleet to five aircraft by the end of 2025 but faced setbacks due to supply chain issues.

According to fleet data, five of ANA’s thirty-four Boeing 787-8s and five of its forty-three 787-9s are currently inactive. The move will not affect Peach Aviation, which continues its low-cost domestic and regional operations.
