Animawings to Launch A220 Operations in Romania with New Routes in September 2024
Romanian airline Animawings is set to enhance its fleet and route network with the introduction of the A220-300, marking a significant expansion in its operations. Scheduled to begin on September 15, 2024, the debut of the A220-300 will see Animawings operating new routes from its base at Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport.
The carrier will integrate two A220-300 aircraft into its fleet, boosting its service offerings with five new routes. These include flights to Cluj-Napoca with five weekly services starting September 16, to Iasi with 11 weekly services from September 15, to Larnaca operating three times a week starting September 16, to Oradea with daily flights from September 15, and to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport with daily flights also starting on September 15.
Currently, Animawings operates primarily with a single A320-200, which was transferred from its former parent company, Aegean Airlines. In a strategic shift earlier this year, Aegean Airlines sold its remaining 51% stake in Animawings to Christian Tour Holding NV, marking a new chapter in the airline’s development.
The introduction of the A220-300 represents a leap forward for Animawings, allowing it to offer enhanced comfort and efficiency on both domestic and international routes. The A220-300 is renowned for its fuel efficiency and passenger-friendly cabin, making it an ideal choice for expanding regional networks.
While details on the specific registrations or serial numbers of the new A220 aircraft have not yet been disclosed, the planned operations highlight Animawings’ commitment to growth and improved service delivery. The airline’s move to diversify its fleet with the A220-300 also aligns with broader trends in the aviation industry towards more economically and environmentally sustainable aircraft.
As Animawings prepares for these service inaugurations, the airline’s initiative is set to significantly impact air travel connectivity within Romania and to key destinations in Europe, providing passengers with more travel options and higher service standards.
