Antin to Acquire Majority Stake in Spain’s Swiftair

Antin Infrastructure Partners has announced plans to acquire a significant majority stake in Spanish cargo airline Swiftair through its Mid Cap Fund I. The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, will see Swiftair’s current owner and CEO, Salvador Moreno, remain at the helm while retaining a substantial minority shareholding. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Swiftair, based at Madrid Barajas, operates one of Europe’s most diversified cargo fleets, with 48 aircraft ranging from ATR42-300 freighters to larger narrowbodies such as Airbus A321-200P2Fs, Boeing 737-800 BDSFs, and Boeing 757-200 PCFs. The airline also supplements its fleet with wet-leased aircraft, including two 737-800SFs from Compass Cargo Airlines and an ATR72-200F from Bridges Air Malta.
Subsidiaries Swiftair Hellas and Cygnus Air add further capacity, operating Embraer E120 freighters and Boeing 757-200PCFs. Swiftair’s core business lies in ACMI and cargo operations, with DHL Express—via EAT Leipzig—serving as its largest customer. It also operates for FedEx, UPS, La Poste, and other logistics companies, making it a key player in Europe’s express and cargo network.
Moreno highlighted that Antin’s backing will accelerate Swiftair’s growth strategy, including fleet modernization and market consolidation opportunities. The investment is expected to strengthen the airline’s role in Europe’s fast-growing cargo sector, especially as e-commerce continues to drive demand for reliable air freight solutions.
The acquisition underscores Antin’s broader push into transportation and logistics infrastructure across Europe.
