An Antonov aircraft factory in Kyiv has been hit by a Russian military strike but it is not known whether any of Antonov’s aircraft were at the site during the incident.

The factory, understood to be located at the Sviatoshyn Airfield in the northwest of the city, was attacked on Monday March 14 as the Ukraine invasion continues, according to Kyiv City Council, Kyiv City State Administration.

The whereabouts of Antonov’s fleet has not been confirmed by Antonov. The company’s website appears to be down and its social media posts do not mention the strike.

On March 4, Air Cargo News reported on photos published on Twitter of a heavily damaged Antonov An-225, appearing to confirm the unique aircraft has been destroyed.

Antonov has not responded to Air Cargo News’ request for comment on the state of the AN-225. In a Twitter post on March 3 the company said: “Currently, until the #AN225 has been inspected by experts, we cannot report on the technical condition of the aircraft.

“Please wait for the official announcements about the condition of the aircraft.” No further Tweets on the aircraft have been published.
