Armenia Airways Loses Only Cargo Jet After Deregistration

Armenia Airways no longer has a dedicated freighter in its fleet after the Armenian Civil Aviation Committee removed its sole Boeing 737-300(F) from the national aircraft registry. The freighter, registered as EK73750 (msn 27459), had a valid registration through May 9, 2025, but it was not renewed.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the aircraft was originally delivered to Air Malta in 1998 as a passenger variant. It later operated for Air New Zealand from 2008 to 2014 and was converted to a freighter in 2015. Texel Air took delivery of the converted aircraft the same year, and it was retired in 2024. Armenia Airways received the aircraft in October 2024 and registered it on January 14, 2025, but never placed it into commercial service. The jet has remained parked at Yerevan since delivery.
The aircraft is powered by two CFM56 engines and was expected to support Armenia Airways’ entry into the cargo market. However, with the registration now lapsed and no operations ever conducted, the airline has effectively exited the freight sector.
ch-aviation contacted Armenia Airways for comment, but no response was received at the time of publication.
Armenia Airways continues to operate two Boeing 737-300 passenger aircraft, which currently fly exclusively between Yerevan and Tehran Imam Khomeini. Following the removal of EK73750, Hayways is now the only Armenian airline with a dedicated freighter, operating a Boeing 737-400(SF) between Yerevan and Moscow Vnukovo.
