Ascend Airways Malaysia has secured its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and Air Service Permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), marking a key milestone ahead of its planned launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The start-up, part of the Avia Solutions Group, plans to begin operations in November 2025 with a single Boeing 737-800(SF) freighter. Initially focusing on charter and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) operations, the airline will serve cargo routes across Southeast Asia before expanding into passenger services in early 2026.

Ascend Airways took delivery of its first aircraft, a 20.9-year-old Boeing 737-800(SF) registered 9M-ASC (msn 33813), on September 3, 2025. The freighter previously operated under other Avia Solutions Group subsidiaries, including BBN Airlines Nordic and AirExplore.

The airline’s second aircraft is expected to join the fleet in early 2026 as Ascend Airways ramps up its regional cargo network and prepares for passenger operations. The launch underscores Avia Solutions Group’s continued expansion in Asia’s fast-growing ACMI and charter market.
