ASL Aviation Holdings has successfully secured a substantial long-term loan and revolving credit facility (RCF) amounting to USD 104.1 million from Investec Aviation Finance. The transaction, facilitated by Investec Bank, is backed by a portfolio of 18 aircraft, comprising both freighters and passenger-configured planes, and marks a significant milestone in ASL Aviation Holdings’ strategic financial initiatives.

According to a statement released on November 15, 2023, Investec highlighted that the transaction involves refinancing and the expansion of existing facilities in collaboration with Investec and other lenders. The loan and RCF are secured by a diverse fleet, including ten freighters and eight passenger-configured planes. The passenger aircraft are strategically placed within ASL Airlines France and FlySafair.

Investec South Africa’s Senior Associate of Aviation Finance, Thato Matsha, expressed optimism about the longstanding relationship between Investec and ASL Aviation Holdings. “Our relationship with ASL goes back more than a decade,” Matsha stated. “We hope to continue to support ASL in the coming years.”

The identified passenger aircraft include B737-800s with specific placements at ASL Airlines France and FlySafair. Additionally, the ten freighters securing the RCF are deployed by various carriers across Africa, Asia, and Europe. While the statement provides initial details, further information on the freighter placements is pending clarification from Investec.
