ATF-Aviation Retires Citation Mustang

ATF-Aviation has retired its sole executive jet, a Citation Mustang, which is now operated by KG-Aviation, a Slovak entity. The 14.6-year-old aircraft, registered OM-FTS (msn 510-0281), had been a part of ATF-Aviation’s fleet since 2021, serving as the only corporate jet following the retirement of a Citation Jet 1 in 2022. However, between September and October 2024, the jet changed operators, now being managed by KG-Aviation, although it continues to be based in Vienna.
The Citation Mustang’s transfer to KG-Aviation marks a shift for the aircraft and the company. KG-Aviation, established in 2018, is managed by Austrian citizen Manfred Brodmann, who became the company’s manager in April 2019. Brodmann had previously founded ATF-Aviation in 2017 and co-owned the company until January 2023, when he divested his share and invested in KG-Aviation. Brodmann also previously owned Berlin Jets, another Slovak business jet operator, until its liquidation in August 2023.
KG-Aviation, despite its growing fleet, does not hold an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) for air transport operations. The company’s registered activities are centered around property rental, goods trading, and other non-aviation services. The lack of an AOC means KG-Aviation is not authorized for commercial air transport operations. However, it continues to manage the Citation Mustang, which was originally used for corporate and private flights under ATF-Aviation.
The aircraft’s retirement marks a turning point for ATF-Aviation, whose website is currently inactive, and the operator could not be reached for comment. Despite this, ATF-Aviation’s certificate remains valid for domestic and international non-scheduled air transport of passengers, though it’s unclear if the company plans to continue operations.
For now, KG-Aviation appears focused on expanding its aviation portfolio with the Citation Mustang, although its current business activities remain diversified across non-aviation sectors. The transfer of this aircraft from ATF-Aviation to KG-Aviation reflects broader changes in the Slovak aviation sector, with shifts in management and operational strategies.
As the aviation industry continues to evolve, the move of the Citation Mustang to a non-AOC holding operator marks a noteworthy development in the corporate jet sector. It remains to be seen how this shift will impact both ATF-Aviation and KG-Aviation’s future in the business aviation market.
