Atlas Air Takes Delivery of New Boeing 777 Freighter for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company
Atlas Air has recently taken delivery of a new Boeing 777-200LRF Freighter, marking a significant step in its partnership with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. This delivery is part of a long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement between the two companies. The newly acquired aircraft is the third of four Boeing 777 Freighters that Atlas Air is set to operate for MSC.
The addition of this freighter to Atlas Air’s fleet is a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting the expansion of MSC’s air cargo solution. The new Boeing 777 Freighter will add an additional route from Hong Kong to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, complementing the existing weekly service. This expansion not only enhances MSC’s air cargo capabilities but also reinforces the company’s dedication to providing top-quality air freight services globally.
Richard Broekman, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Sustainability at Atlas Air Worldwide, expressed pride in this achievement, stating that the delivery of the new 777 Freighter symbolizes the enduring strategic partnership with MSC. He also emphasized that the company is looking forward to the third 777 Freighter entering service for MSC and eagerly anticipates the arrival of the fourth aircraft later in the year.
For MSC, this marks a strategic addition to its MSC Air Cargo fleet, allowing the company to better address market demands and reinforce its commitment to enhancing trade connections for its clients.
