Atlas Air, a United States company, has recently received a new Boeing 777-200 freighter for operation on behalf of its customer, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). This Boeing 737 is the second out of four aircraft to join Atlas Air’s existing weekly service for MSC, the world’s largest shipping company.

MSC is now offering global service to various airports, including Mexico City (NLU), Indianapolis (IND), Liege (LGG), Seoul (ICN), and Xiamen (XMN). The latest addition of the second 777 freighter marks a significant milestone in the long-term strategic partnership between Atlas Air and MSC.

Michael Steen, CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide, expressed delight in welcoming the new 777 delivery, with the remaining two aircraft expected to arrive in the fourth quarter. The partnership demonstrates the trust MSC has placed in Atlas Air to support the growing demands of its global network, and both companies are excited to leverage their expertise and industry-leading solutions.

The partnership between Atlas Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide, and MSC was announced in September 2022. The long-term ACMI agreement entails Atlas Air operating all four Boeing 777-200 freighters globally for MSC, enhancing the connection of trade lanes for customers.

Jannie Davel, senior vice president Air Cargo at MSC, emphasized the strategic significance of the second MSC branded aircraft, providing further connectivity for their air cargo solution and expanding their offerings.

As of now, Atlas Air’s fleet comprises 76 active planes, all of which are Boeing aircraft, according to ch-aviation.com.
