Atlas Ocean Voyages Adds New Arctic Route for 2026

Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced major updates to its polar expedition program, including a new Arctic itinerary for 2026 and the return of two expert expedition leaders for the 2025 season.
Set to depart on September 21, 2026, the new 17-night Arctic expedition sails from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, to St. John’s, Newfoundland. Guests will experience Zodiac safaris through Disco Bay and the Button Islands, home to polar bears, walruses, whales, and possibly black bears in Nachvak Fjord. The immersive journey offers encounters with the cultures of Sisimiut and Qikiqtarjuaq, showcasing Greenlandic, Canadian Inuit, Basque, and French heritage.
Additional highlights include exploring the ruins of Hebron’s Moravian mission, a visit to the historic Basque whaling station in Red Bay, and a tour of the UNESCO-listed Gros Morne National Park. Travelers can also expect spontaneous landings in remote Arctic locations through Captain’s Choice programming.
In parallel, Atlas Ocean Voyages has revealed the expedition leaders for its 2025 polar season, which begins this week. Jonathan Zaccaria, a former spectrometry engineer from France, returns as expedition leader aboard World Voyager. With over a decade of polar guiding experience, his career began at Dumont d’Urville Station in Antarctica.
Joining him is Ekaterina “Katia” Uryupova, a Siberian-born environmental scientist with a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences. She brings expertise in marine biology and climate science to her role aboard World Traveller. Katia is also an advocate for polar education through organizations such as APECS and PYRN.
Limited 2025 expedition spots remain available for booking.
