Atlas Ocean Voyages to Offer 2026 Total Solar Eclipse Cruises
Atlas Ocean Voyages is set to offer two unique sailings for the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026.
The World Navigator will take travelers to the Arctic, positioning itself near Patreksfjordur, Iceland, for the eclipse. Meanwhile, the World Traveller will sail through the Mediterranean, offering prime viewing off Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Both voyages will feature astronomers who will serve as expedition guides, providing expert insights and enhancing the eclipse-viewing experience.
“This year’s solar eclipse was one of the most sought-after travel experiences in 2024, and Atlas Ocean Voyages is thrilled to offer not one, but two voyages to optimum locations for the next solar eclipse in 2026,” said James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages.
In addition to the eclipse cruises, Atlas Ocean Voyages will offer stargazing and astronomy workshops on select sailings in 2024 and 2025. These workshops, part of the line’s Cultural Expeditions’ Atlas Focus Lab, will include night-sky viewing through advanced telescopes on deck. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about a range of astronomical topics, from the birth of the universe to the latest discoveries.
Astronomer Jonathan H. Ward will join three upcoming sailings on World Navigator, while astronomer Charles Barclay will be aboard a departure on World Voyager in 2025.
“There has always been a close connection to stargazing and the sea, from captains navigating with the stars to novice astronomers gazing at the night sky on deck,” Rodriguez added.
Several other cruise lines, including Cunard, Albatros Expeditions, and Princess Cruises, have also announced their own 2026 total solar eclipse cruises. With its dual offerings and onboard experts, Atlas Ocean Voyages promises an unparalleled celestial experience for its guests.
