Avelo Airlines Launches New Base and International Routes
Avelo Airlines has officially launched operations from its newest base at Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, marking an exciting expansion for the airline. This new base will initially support four routes, utilizing two Boeing 737NG aircraft stationed at the airport.
Bradley International Airport, located approximately 55 miles north of Avelo’s largest base at Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN), serves as a strategic hub for the airline’s growth in Connecticut. At HVN, Avelo operates eight aircraft and employs around 250 staff, providing service to 27 destinations.
The airline, which began operations in 2021, views BDL and HVN as a regional base that enhances air service across Connecticut. “This expansion represents further investment in the region and enables Avelo to significantly broaden its air service,” the airline stated.
On November 7, Avelo began offering twice-weekly flights from BDL to four destinations: Concord and Wilmington in North Carolina, along with Daytona Beach and Lakeland in Florida. The airline plans to add twice-weekly flights to Houston Hobby later this month, connecting travelers to Avelo’s headquarters in Houston.
In a significant move, Avelo will launch its first international routes from BDL, starting with flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, on November 16. Following that, service to Cancun, Mexico, will begin on November 20, with both routes operating twice weekly.
With these new offerings, Avelo Airlines will serve a total of 52 destinations across 23 states, as well as Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Mexico. This expansion solidifies Avelo’s commitment to enhancing travel options for customers in the Connecticut region and beyond.
