Avelo Airlines, the U.S. carrier established in 2021, is set to launch its first international routes this November, marking a significant expansion into the Caribbean and Mexico. The Houston-based airline will introduce services to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cancun, Mexico, from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. This strategic location serves the regions between Hartford, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts, broadening Avelo’s reach from the northeast U.S.

Starting November 16, Avelo will commence flights from BDL to Montego Bay, followed by the launch of the Cancun route on November 20. Both destinations will be serviced twice weekly, utilizing the airline’s Boeing 737NG aircraft. This expansion not only signifies Avelo’s entry into international markets but also highlights its rapid growth and commitment to connecting more destinations with affordable and convenient travel options.

In addition to these new international flights, November will also see Avelo initiating service from BDL to five U.S. domestic locations, including Concord and Wilmington in North Carolina; Daytona Beach and Lakeland in Florida; and Houston Hobby, each also running on a twice-weekly schedule. Furthermore, from its base in Lakeland (LAL), Florida, Avelo plans to start operations to seven more destinations including Atlanta, Manchester (New Hampshire), Wilmington (Delaware), Rochester (New York), and San Juan (Puerto Rico), alongside flights to BDL and other U.S. cities.

Avelo’s CEO, Andrew Levy, emphasized the significance of this expansion as the most substantial since the airline’s inception, noting the carrier’s impressive performance with three consecutive profitable quarters. By November, Avelo aims to operate in 52 destinations across 23 states, including Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Mexico.

Avelo Airlines first began its operations with flights from Hollywood Burbank Airport in Southern California in April 2021 and expanded its East Coast services from Tweed–New Haven Airport in Southern Connecticut later that same year. This latest expansion into international flights is a testament to Avelo’s ongoing momentum and strategic growth in the competitive aviation market.
