Avelo Airlines has announced plans to expand its operations by opening two new airport bases in North Carolina, complementing its existing crewmember base at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). The Houston-based carrier aims to strengthen its presence in the region and offer more travel options to passengers.

Starting March 6, Avelo will base one Boeing 737NG aircraft at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), located approximately 20 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. A second 737NG will be added to the Concord-Padgett base in April 2025. The airline plans to launch two new routes from this location in early April 2025, both operating twice weekly: Daytona Beach, Florida, commencing April 3, and Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee, starting April 4.

In addition to the expansion at Concord-Padgett, Avelo will establish a new base at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in North Carolina from April 3. Initially, one Boeing 737NG will be stationed at ILM, with plans to add a second aircraft later in the year. The airline will introduce three new routes from Wilmington on April 3 and 4: Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire; Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) in New York; and Nashville International Airport (BNA). Each of these routes will also operate twice weekly.

Avelo Airlines has maintained a crewmember base at Raleigh-Durham International Airport since February 2023, employing around 100 staff members. The airline continues to invest in RDU and will introduce two international routes in February 2025. Service to Montego Bay, Jamaica, will begin on February 12, followed by flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, starting February 22. Both international routes will operate twice weekly.

Andrew Levy, CEO of Avelo Airlines, stated that the carrier will serve a total of 27 routes from the three North Carolina airports once the new bases are operational in 2025. “Our expansion in North Carolina underscores our commitment to providing affordable and convenient travel options,” Levy said. “We are excited to bring more destinations and opportunities to our customers in this region.”

The expansion doesn’t stop in North Carolina. Avelo will also add two new routes from Nashville International Airport in 2025: Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) starting April 3, and Wilmington, Delaware, commencing May 1. Both routes will be served twice weekly. Additionally, the airline will open a new service between Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, beginning April 4, 2025.

Avelo Airlines’ growth strategy focuses on connecting underserved markets with popular destinations, utilizing its fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft to provide reliable and efficient service. The addition of new bases and routes is expected to enhance the airline’s network and offer more choices to travelers seeking both leisure and business destinations.

With these expansions, Avelo Airlines continues to position itself as a competitive player in the U.S. domestic aviation market, emphasizing customer service and affordable fares. Passengers can look forward to more travel options and increased connectivity across various regions starting in early 2025.
