Avianca Airlines has signed a deal to lease nine additional Airbus A320neo aircraft from BOC Aviation as part of its fleet expansion and modernization strategy. The aircraft will be powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines and are scheduled for delivery in 2027.

BOC Aviation confirmed it will purchase the factory-new A320neo jets directly from Airbus before leasing them to Avianca. This marks the first leasing agreement between Avianca Group and the Singapore-based lessor.

The Colombian flag carrier is also expecting 78 A320neo aircraft directly from Airbus as part of a large-scale fleet renewal program aimed at increasing fuel efficiency and reducing operating costs.

According to ch-aviation data, Avianca Airlines currently operates 24 A320neo aircraft. Its regional subsidiaries, Avianca Airlines Ecuador and Avianca Airlines El Salvador, operate five and twelve A320neo jets respectively. In addition to the A320neo fleet, Avianca’s mainline fleet includes six A319-100s, sixty A320-200s, and sixteen Boeing 787-8s for long-haul operations.

The dry-lease agreement with BOC Aviation supports Avianca’s growth plans across Latin America while allowing flexibility in managing its fleet size. Deliveries from both Airbus and lessors like BOC Aviation are expected to help the airline maintain a modern, fuel-efficient narrowbody fleet amid rising travel demand in the region.

Avianca Group, one of Latin America’s largest airline holdings, continues to strengthen its position with a focus on cost-effective operations, increased aircraft utilization, and improved passenger service across its network.
