Avolon Leasing Orders 90 Airbus Jets, Expands A330neo and A321neo Fleet

Avolon, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has announced a major order for 90 Airbus aircraft placed on July 24. The order includes 15 A330neo widebody jets and 75 A321neo narrowbody aircraft, significantly expanding Avolon’s portfolio. With this latest purchase, Avolon’s total commitments now stand at 79 A330neos and 264 A321neos.
“This order demonstrates our strong confidence in the long-term demand for new aircraft,” said Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon. “Our scale and balance sheet position us to support our airline customers’ fleet expansion and replacement strategies well into the next decade. Both the A321neo and A330neo are in high demand, and we expect that demand to continue given the aviation sector’s sustained growth. We’re pleased to deepen our partnership with Airbus through this significant order.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, also welcomed the announcement: “Lessors like Avolon are excellent barometers of the aircraft market. We’re grateful for Avolon’s continued trust in the A320 Family and A330neo, especially with this new order following a previous one just two years ago. This endorsement highlights the wide appeal of these two aircraft types, both of which combine cutting-edge efficiency and operational flexibility for routes ranging from domestic to long-haul. We value our strong partnership with Avolon, which continues to help open new markets and expand the global Airbus customer base.”
The Airbus A330neo, powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, offers a non-stop range of 7,200 nautical miles (13,300 km). It delivers a 25% reduction in fuel burn, CO₂ emissions, and operating costs compared to previous-generation aircraft. The A330neo is also equipped with the award-winning Airspace cabin, which enhances the passenger experience with more individual space, larger overhead bins, improved lighting, and advanced in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.
The A321neo, the largest variant in the A320neo Family, continues to lead the single-aisle market segment. Incorporating new-generation engines and Airbus’s Sharklets, the aircraft offers over 20% savings in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, along with a 50% reduction in noise. Its advanced design also ensures superior comfort, thanks to the widest single-aisle cabin in the industry.
Both aircraft types support up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) usage today, with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030. These enhancements align with global sustainability goals while supporting airlines in reducing their carbon footprint.
This landmark order further strengthens Avolon’s position as a key player in the aviation leasing industry and reaffirms growing confidence in Airbus’s fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft to meet future demand across global markets.
