AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2) has entered into a wet-lease agreement with Lithuania’s GetJet Airlines (GW) for three Airbus A320 aircraft, aimed at enhancing capacity during the upcoming winter season. The aircraft are already in operation, serving various routes from Baku Heydar Aliev International.

The wet-leased A320s, registered as LY-FAS (msn 4273), LY-WIZ (msn 3430), and LY-GYM (msn 2584), are deployed on flights connecting Baku to destinations such as Antalya, Berlin Brandenburg International, Dubai International, Izmir Adnan Menderes, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen, Milan Malpensa, Prague Václav Havel, Vienna, Almaty, and Astana. The strategic deployment aims to meet the growing demand for air travel during the winter season.

AZAL’s decision to partner with GetJet for additional capacity highlights the flexibility and efficiency of wet-leasing arrangements, especially during seasonal fluctuations in demand. GetJet Airlines, known for effectively managing seasonality challenges, ensures that its A320 fleet remains active throughout the winter season.

GetJet Airlines currently operates a diverse fleet, including five A320-200s, one A321-200, and five B737-800s. The airline’s subsidiary, GetJet Airlines Latvia, and affiliate Airhub Airlines in Malta further expand the fleet’s operational scope. This wet-lease agreement with AZAL adds to GetJet’s portfolio of clients, which includes prominent carriers like Air Sénégal, Air Serbia, Aruba Airlines, ASL Airlines France, Ibom Air, and Nesma Airlines.

AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines, with six of its own A320-200s and a fleet comprising various Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer aircraft, strategically leverages wet-leasing to optimize capacity, meeting passenger demand efficiently during peak travel seasons.
